Child Safe Risk Management Plan

Purpose

Crusaders Futsal Club is committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where children and young people are protected from harm and are able to participate in futsal free from abuse, neglect, bullying, harassment and discrimination.

This Child Safe Risk Management Plan outlines the systems, responsibilities and actions the club will take to identify, minimise and respond to risks affecting children and young people.

  • Place the safety and wellbeing of children at the centre of decision making.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion and safeguarding.
  • Meet legislative and Football Queensland/Football Australia safeguarding requirements.
  • Ensure all volunteers understand their safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Continuously review and improve safeguarding practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

Committee

  • Ensure safeguarding remains a governance priority.
  • Review safeguarding risks annually.
  • Allocate resources for safeguarding.

Safeguarding Lead

  • Maintain safeguarding policies.
  • Support coaches and volunteers.
  • Receive and respond to safeguarding concerns.
  • Liaise with Football Queensland where required.

Coaches & Volunteers

  • Complete safeguarding education.
  • Follow Codes of Conduct.
  • Report concerns immediately.
  • Promote respectful behaviour.

Parents & Carers

  • Support club values.
  • Raise concerns appropriately.
  • Encourage respectful sideline behaviour.

Players

  • Treat others with kindness and respect.
  • Speak up if they feel unsafe.
  • Respect teammates, officials and volunteers.

Recruitment & Screening

Crusaders will ensure:

  • Blue Cards are current.
  • Reference checks where appropriate.
  • Volunteers understand safeguarding expectations.
  • Codes of Conduct are signed.
  • Induction completed before working with children.

Education

Annual education will include:

  • Safeguarding
  • Child Safe Standards
  • Appropriate boundaries
  • Responding to concerns
  • Inclusion
  • Respectful behaviours

Reporting Concerns

Everyone has a responsibility to report concerns.

Concerns may be raised with:

  • Club Safeguarding Lead
  • President
  • Football Queensland
  • Queensland Police (where appropriate)

Children will always be listened to and supported.

Communication

Safeguarding information will be promoted through:

  • Coach induction
  • Parent meetings
  • Social media
  • Club signage
  • Child-friendly safeguarding poster

Monitoring & Review

This plan will be reviewed:

  • Annually
  • Following any safeguarding incident
  • Following legislative or policy changes
  • Following feedback from children, families or volunteers

Success Measures

By the end of the season Crusaders aims to achieve:

  • 100% Blue Card compliance.
  • 100% coach safeguarding training.
  • Annual policy review completed.
  • Safeguarding discussed at every committee meeting.
  • Positive feedback from children and families regarding feeling safe and included.
